Eric Fitzgerald Collier
May 18, 1970 – June 13, 2017
Eric was born May 18, 1970 to the late Morris Spann and Flora Lee Collier-Charles in Brockport, New York. At the age of two Eric moved to the city of Rochester, NY. He attended several elementary schools however Eric earned his notoriety while attending Benjamin Franklin High School home of the Quakers through his love of football. There he gained the nickname of "E" which followed him into his adult years.
Eric enjoyed shopping and was known to "dress to impress". Eric enjoyed cooking and family gatherings at his home. Eric was known to be a protector of his children, family, friends, and anyone close to him.
Eric earned his GED while incarcerated and became an instructor and mentor to other inmates. After his release, Eric moved to Elmira in the early 1990's. In his years of living in Elmira, Eric became a business owner. He also coached Little League football and baseball. Eric mentored young boys and became a positive influence and impacted their lives. Eric also attended Corning Community College, majoring in Human Services. Eric worked for AIM Independent Living Center, where he helped individuals with disabilities lead independent lives.
Eric and Mandy met in 1998 and continued to be friends throughout the years. After a five-year courtship and the birth of their beautiful daughter, Alana Samone Mase Collier, they married on September 20, 2014. Eric was a loving husband and father.
Eric was predeceased by his father Morris Spann, his Aunt Sylvia E Gray, and Uncle McKeever Robinson. Eric is survived by his wife Mandy Mase Collier and daughter Alana Samone Mase Collier, his mother Flora Lee Collier-Charles and step father Bobby Gene Charles Sr, biological brother James T. Collier (Beth); Step siblings, Bobby Douglass, Barbara Douglass and Michelle Douglass; His Aunt Glendora Lilley, Uncle Gerry Gray, and his Uncle Marvin Lilley all of Rochester, New York, and a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins and longtime best friend Jamie Prescott.
Eric went into eternal rest on June 13, 2017 leaving to cherish his memories his beautiful children whom he loved dearly: Eric Lowe, Shania Collier, Brandi Lowe, Anthony Mase, Zachary Mase, Kemya Stevenson, Cayden Collier, Alana Samone Collier as well as two grandchildren Javion Lowe and Hanniyah Alexander.
