Obituary of Nickolai Derkach
DERKACH, Nickolai
Age 93, most recently of Jamesville, NY. He was born December 5, 1922 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Michael and Mary (Wasylewska) Derkach and passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Syracuse, NY. He was predeceased by his dear wife of 44 years, Josephine (Walkowiak), as well as his sisters, Anna Clancy, Genevieve Daddona, Sophie Dubiak, Julia Olga Derkach, Helen Harvey, Katherine Kirkendall; and brothers, John and Steven. Nick is survived by his daughter, Donna (Thomas) Fecteau; grandchildren, Melissa (Bradley) Goldsworthy, Daniel and John Fecteau; great grandchildren, Collin and Sydney Goldsworthy; along with many nieces and nephews with their children and grandchildren. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1982 after nearly 30 years and was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church in Rochester; he will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Friday, September 9th from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday, September 10th from 10 to 11 am. Prayers will be offered there at 11 am, followed by Nick's Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place, Elmira. Committal Prayers and interment will be in St. Andrews Cemetery, Blossburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Nick through donations to Minoa Ambulance, 240 N. Main Street, Minoa, NY 13116.
